The difficulty of great journalism is illustrated in the face to face TV interview. Too many interviewers allow their subjects to escape the questions the interviewees don't want to answer. Many times, when the interviews become intense exchanges, it's an confrontation hard to watch. Great journalists remain steadfast to get to the facts. And they, much like the journalist who wrote "The Newsman," recognize and accept the consequences of their pursuit of the truth, and know there will be more lashes than laurels in their vital endeavor. Simply put, the truth might make us free, but the journalists help pay the bill.
