Jim, that’s a very moving story. Thank you for inviting us to witness Rudy’s life. You have to wonder how many “Rudy’s” there are out there with unfulfilled dreams. The degradation of the “other” by certain political thugs is a sad thing to witness. So many have contributed to our country and our communities that deserve recognition and gratitude, not hate and disregard. Here’s to a better tomorrow, a healthier nation and kindness.

If a person gives his life for this country, his country must give its rights of belonging to him. What more must that person do to earn such rights?

Assume this meticulously researched, compiled and beautifully written piece might have started with familiarity with Jerry Gonzalez in TV news. We so benefit from your decisions to then pursue and run with something like that. Thanks.

Right, Rog. Jerry and I know each other from my TV days, and his, which I think are ongoing. Thanks for the kind words, too, my friend.

Tragic story, well-told as usual, Jim. I believe the U.S. can grant him citizenship posthumously. The tumblers have not fallen into place. I hope his family, and all of us, will continue to advocate for him.

Jim Bob, one of your best. Such a simple choice for the nation and to recognize the ideals he fought for.

Thanks, Dave. Seems impossible to believe even though it's a hard truth about who we are as a government, if not a people.

Thank you so much for telling Rudy’s story. It’s impossible to understand how his family’s requests to grant him citizenship are denied.

I wish I had an answer, Rose Ann. I hope someone reads the story in DC and does the right thing.
