So what are we saying here, that Trump genius Stephen Miller’s observation that Emma Lazarus’s “New Colossus sonnet was only added to the statue pedestal as “an afterthought” isn’t any more profound than the guy’s other utterances in diminishing Lady Liberty’s symbolism as a beacon to immigrants? (The poem was actually written as part of the fundraising campaign to pay for the pedestal to which it is affixed.)
Interesting historical trivia, Rog. I did not know that about the poem being used for fundraising on the pedestal. As for Miller, please don't make me think of him again!!??
As always, excellent J.B. Every Friday I witness a crew of brown gentleman come to my apartments, mow, weed eat, and leaf blow. As fast as they can move. Pack up and on to the next job. Yesterday's high here was 103. I watched them from my AC cooled unit. Nope don't want to do it. Who does? Anybody complaining they took that job from them? What about the roofers? I've been all across America and I've seen very few white skinned people in our fields. Want to know why? Try it for a day. Let's not forget who's butchering our cattle and being eaten up with Covid.
