I was never a fan of presidential primary debates, and after the Trump party’s group news conference Wednesday night on the broadcasting arm of the GOP, I flat out hate the idea.
I had no intention of watching that chain of fools. You were kind to call it a news conference because there was nothing new and it sure as hell wasn't worth our time. I waited to read your take, and thank you for summing it up. The Grand Ole Party is lawless, immoral, fascist, racist, homophobic, and sexist. As you said, the whole lot is unfit. A disgusting display of weak-willed bigots making excuses for their hatred.
You wrapped this up tightly and quickly. What an utter mess, and to the extent that primary debates might ever be meaningful (and I agree with you that, yeah, not so much), most certainly not with these 8 people on stage. Not one of them should ever occupy the White House. Ever.
I don’t think we have to worry about any of them gaining traction and Trump is going to keep leaking support. Biden should win easily. And I do hope the Rs nominate a convicted felon.
I can’t believe I watched the whole thing. Debates are always so cringe worthy for everyone. I think we learn much more from listening to podcasts. Many podcasters are interviewing candidates and you get to hear them in a more natural situation where they don’t have to rush their answers and speak in bumper sticker phrases.
I deleted my comment for no other reason than I am old and maybe losing fine motor coordination!?! Ugh! Wasn’t important. Just saying I think Haley performed the best last night.
Thanks, Jim. Your recap replaced the heartburn I would have had, had I watched what I expected to be regurgitation of the same spoiled political pablum. I watched Tom Jones on PBS instead and sipped a tawny port. I was civilized, relaxed, and contented, at least for a few hours.
I am disappointed in Harris. And I do think Biden would not be able to deliver a second term. I’m for starting over all around. I actually joined the Forward Party. I have the coffee mug, the ball cap, and the bumper sticker. They aren’t running a candidate for president this time, but I am a political orphan and think it’s high time to shake it all up even if it takes a third party.
Thanks for the excellent summary. What a waste of air time and brain cells, but the unfortunate part is that somewhere around 25 to 30 percent of voters agree with whatever was being proposed on that stage, no matter how bat shit crazy it was. I would like to believe Biden will win in a landslide and carry Democrats to a Congressional majority, but it's a long way to what I think will be a close election. Haley did say the only thing sensible about abortion any Republican has said in ages, and she was roundly attacked for it. Pence's "I found Jesus" stchik is sickening, but the crowd loved it.
We're faced with a country that seems unsure about which is the right choice between Fascism and Democracy, and that is truly frightening. Stay tuned for Trump's torchlit parade as he maryters himself at the Fulton County jail tonight...

Thank you. Now I won't have to watch the replay or spend much time reading about it.
Thanks for your time J.B. I watched the Blue Bloods marathon over on ion. I'll take your word for it..

A third party this cycle could give us Trump again. And No Labels is a con paid for by conservative billionaires.
And I am inclined to think the Democrats are going to figure out a way to get Gavin Newsome to be their candidate.
I think he and Gretchin Whitmer would be a hell of a ticket, but ousting Harris would disrupt the black vote in a hurtful way.

I watched baseball. Much more interesting.
My assessment, as well.
