(I had intended to write these Letter from Texas dispatches a bit more frequently but have been overwhelmed by specific subject matter that needs attention.
Good essay. Thanks especially for mentioning the deplorable state of the Juvenile Justice Department, caused in no small part by Abbott redirecting urgently needed dollars to his farcical border misadventures. The whole infrastructure of caring for children in this state — CPS investigation, foster care, TJJD — is in crisis. Why this war on children? And why does the Legislature put up with it?
Meanwhile, the dark corners of the interwebz want to suggest that Democrats hurt children. Maybe they should look at the beam in their eyes first …
In that the entire exodus has been historicallly rejected, the special effects NTM hair and makeup are the least of the issues. But it is a great story. And Edward J. Robinson ... really stirred up the crowd at the Golden Calf party.
As a Texas expatriate with immediate family in Houston, I can safely say I'm never going to live in Texas again. My question continues to be, " what is wrong with Texans that they allow Abbott, Paxton, et al, to remain in office?"

A more accurate interpretation than mine.
"Texans must stop Greg Abbott."

If it comes from Yul Brenner and Charlton Heston, it's biblical and cannot be disputed.
Well, yeah. What an epic movie that was at the time and how fake it looks now.

And painfully overwrought.
