I view it as the absolute best novel on Doc. I'd also add that her science fiction novel, "The Sparrow," is also one of the best I've ever encountered in the genre and is up there with "The Boat of a Million Years" and "The Mote in God's Eye."
It is worth mentioning that for those who find fascination in Doc, Wyatt, and their story, "Doc," by Mary Doria, is one of the best novels of the genre. It's well researched and fine story telling.
The best non-fiction work is, "Doc Holliday: The Life and Legend" by scholar/author Gary L. Roberts. Just magnificent work and writing.

Doc Holliday and Cocaine Kevin — two archetypal figures of the American West. And a terrific journalist to tell their stories. Thanks Jim!
