Well, I came of age during Vietnam so I've been bothered by everything from the JFK assassination till today.

A powerful, and depressing, summary of the failures of American foreign policy and our broader society during the last half century. Some of it — imperialism in service of commerce, secrecy leavened with outright lying to the people — have also been thus, but the rot at the center of it all has worsened in our generation.

Great writing, as usual, my friend. By the way, I appreciate your programming note about sharing content more often. Let the Spirit move you.

I think maybe I wrote this for me, just to put it down all in one place, all of the BS and disingenuousness I've experienced as an American. No different in any other country, of course, it's just that we give such consistent lip service to being different, even better. We remain, in my view, a grand idea poorly executed, and the Justice Brown hearings are what set me off, I reckon.

Sadly, I wrote that in about an hour, all off the top of my head. Took about 30 more minutes to edit. Probably not healthy to keep thinking about such stuff, but I can't help it.
