This one of the best summaries of these “Christian” charlatans I’ve read. I’ve had these same thoughts for a long time about these types but get so worked up reading or listening to them. I’m glad you were able to find some humor in their absurdity.

Dark humor, at best, I'm afraid. But they need to be called out every time they cite their god for their politics and behavior.

If God is having a hard time keeping her followers in the U.S., the situation is even worse in the UK where less than 10% of the population attends church regularly, and according to our most recent census the % of those identifying as Christian has dropped below 50% for the first time, with no religion coming in next at 37%. And we have an established religion.

Perhaps it’s just that god doesn’t care any more.

I'm pulling hard for "no religion" to win the election. Here are three items to put your beliefs in other than god: hard work, science, and love.

There will be no domestic tranquility much less peace on earth until and unless humanity moves beyond religion.

These men — and it's no surprise they're all men — and deeply unserious. Like Pat Robertson, who perfected a generation-long grift of blaming hurricanes on homosexuality and wars on witches, they've developed a penchant for hallucinating God's hand in everything, so they can avoid the hard work of critically analyzing and understanding the world around them.

In some ways, Dr. Phil was more dangerous when he posed as a serious psychologist, but now he's free to double down on religious mumbo-jumbo.

Excellent essay. I always think it's ridiculous when someone says, "God saved me/him..." because if their god is so powerful, why did he send the bullet/tornado/hurricane/... in the first place?? All bogus bullshit. (Can I say that word on this forum?)

Yes, you can say whatever you want. And to your point, I've always thought it was odd how every soldier who went to war was convinced god was on his side, and they still died, regardless. Of course, the survivors were convinced god protected them.

I see where you are confused, Jim, so let me help you. God chose trump as he did Cyrus the pagan king. Sure, trump may even be more venal, vile, and vindictive than Cyrus, but trump supports Israel (aka Christians,) as did Cyrus. That's why God uses trump, because trump supports Christians, especially those who support trump. Now you might say that Satan supports trump as well, based on certain similarities in Satan's regard. But you're getting into the weeds there. Christians like it simple, direct, and rather non-epistemological. I hope this clarification makes your life easier and less question heavy.

I feel so much better after your trenchant explanation.

As a person of faith I could not agree more! When I look at this disgusting assembly, it makes me ill.

These people are more like Trump than many people know! They Don like he does and ask for forgiveness, but never stop. Look at Matt Schlapp, head of CPAC, a “serial groper”, who paid off the last young man he assaulted! The Christian networks are filled with greedy self serving deviants! They prey on the faithful, who keep them living well, with their donations! Well done!
