There are no words to describe the evil of Mr Abbott, but there are also no words to describe the reasons why people would support that evil.
From the bottom of my heart I hope that more and more people seeing the danger, the cruelty and the evil coming from those people like, Abbott, Cruz, Hawley, Trump and all the other evil figures.
When I grew up, I was taught that lying and taking advantage of other people are things you don't do and all what these people are doing is lying and profiting of others. Disgusting !!
Watching my home state from the West Coast, my daily prayers continue to be wrapped in the belief that Good will triumph over evil. I just keep hoping Jesus gets on that…quicker…please…
Right from the lede, your Beto and the Billionaire resurrects the perennial question: if a tree fell in the forest, and it landed on your governor, why couldn’t that have knocked at least some of the venality out of him? (Sorry, but your incomparable adroitness in shoehorning complete indictments into single paragraphs – Blinkist, eat your heart out -- makes me feel less ashamed adding the above gratuitous observational low blow to the original unfortunate pre-gubernatorial corporal one.) There, I hope we can all feel a little better now.
Well-written, compelling survey of all the ways our state leaders let us down. Texas has always had a tradition of parsimonious government. And incompetence has never been disqualifying. But whereas, say, Bill Clements’s leadership could be characterized as benign neglect, today’s leaders cultivate cruelty as part of their political brand. In fact, their assiduous pursuit of cruelty in the culture wars makes them even more oblivious to their incompetent governance.
And yet, there is a working majority of Texans who tolerate it. One would hope the constant punching down on the powerless -- immigrants, transgender kids, LGBTQ+, teachers, the poor, the elderly -- would break through to the souls of decent Texans. But it hasn’t happened yet.
I always love our their perennial opponent, the Washington Generals, never seem to do much but stand around on the floor and watch just like the crowd.
I agree. But I do not know the recipe for the secret sauce. Hell, we've had an Attorney General under indictment for his entire term! If that don't beat all …
Texas wants to think of itself as a modern economic powerhouse. But its politics are as backward and reactionary as any place in the Deep South 100 years ago.

Me, too, buddy, but there is some evil afoot.
I talked with Jesus this morning. He is NOT coming to our rescue anytime soon.
What's the use? Thru the willful ignorance of the voters, greed, selfishness and intolerance can win again.
Okay. I surrender.
There's no escape from the body snatchers. Be one of us. Be one of us.

Well, it's an inane thought from me, but something has to give. We can't go on like this.
