Many have tried but none, that I've read, have stated it better.

People say, "This is all Trump's fault." I say, "This started long before Trump." Now I'll just point them here and say, "Read this. JBM explains the situation best."

Thank you, I don't think it was an easy thing to do to revisit these horrors of our recent past.

Thanks, Kelley. I appreciate your understanding. Context is everything in politics and we don’t have much of it around right now.

LBJ, despite his domestic achievements, was a snake (apologies to rat-eating reptiles). But could you point us to some of the" increasing scholarship and research pointing to LBJ’s involvement in a plot to kill JFK?" It's hard to separate the credible from the fake anymore, and we'd appreciate a leg up in finding it.

Also highly recommend the BBC's broadcast series on the assassination. This episode covers LBJ's involvement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEkl6LS1gTg&t=7s

That video was an avalanche of evidence and allegations; the usual suspects and some characters either unknown to me or forgotten. I hope the book confirms them. BTW, it seems that the connection to the BBC is indirect. I'll have to check it out further.

The fulcrum moment of whether or not we'll be keeping our republic will be Tuesday November 5th.

You certainly know how to put history of our Country into context!

Best so far, I am delighted to see our history laid out with such care and attention to as much detail as possible! There will always be different perspectives on certain periods of time!

That said, Very well done.

I'm beginning to believe Mitt Romney's assertion that corporations are people might have been a bit of a stretch. On the other hand, as usual, your own thesis is so well presented and appreciated.

Thanks for the wiki rabbit hole I went down on Kermit Roosevelt. Sad story all around.

Excellent essay as always. A little nervous about things here in Montgomery County as lines are excessive. I'm glad for the turnout but worried about *who* is turning out.

Yeah, the Kermit and TR and Iran and Shah story are all pretty astonishing when viewed through the long lens of time. As for turnout, I think in Montgomery County you can assume those are MAGAs supporting Trump. But the numbers in Harris, Bexar, Travis, and Dallas Counties are huge and that augurs well for Ds. Early voting figures statewide are showing almost a 2-1 margin favoring Ds. Will Harris win Texas. Nope. But there is still a non-zero chance Allred can beat Cruz, who has the highest unfavorables of any Texas pol in the modern era.
